Getting ready to book me as your wedding photographer? (YAY!)

Also, here is a list of questions I pre-answered for you just in case you are still on the fence. (It might even be helpful for you to ask other photographers too…) But always, always, always answer with your heart, not your head when making this decision.

Style

• How would you describe your wedding photography style? I would love my work to feel like a hand-thrown ceramic mug you have picked up on your travels. You can see the love in the small dents and imperfections and know it is one of a kind when you take your morning sip. I hope you see the love and FEEL it too.
• How would you describe your working style? I am good at reading the room, so will direct when needed (large family photos, especially), give you insights on how to best adjust for lighting in specific shots, recommend what you do with your hands (why is that always so hard to figure out when you are being photographed?!) and the rest we let unfold with magic. 
• Do you photograph weddings digitally? With film? Or both? Mostly digitally, but I’m happy to bring along some fun vintage lenses, film cameras, and prisms if you want to add an element of uniqueness to your gallery for key moments.

Availability

• Is my wedding date available? Hopefully, yes, because you seem awesome, but I only take limited dates.
• Will you be the one photographing my wedding? Yes. The only reason it would not be me is in the case of an emergency – hasn’t happened yet, but I always line up backups just in case.
• How many other weddings will you photograph that weekend? I limit my weddings to be fully present and consumed by your day (sometimes I am so in the zone, I forget to even pee!). The only reason I would double book a weekend would be if one day is a small elopement without full coverage needed.
• Will you have any assistants with you on our wedding day? That will depend on the package you select. If you are open to it, I sometimes have interns that like to shadow on wedding days and have amazing second shooters that will only enhance your day.

Background Check

• How long have you been shooting weddings? I have been shooting weddings since 2017 ( a handful prior for close friends… technically, I have been photographing since high school, but didn’t give it a go part-time until 2005 specializing in boudoir, and I went full steam ahead in 2017)
• How many weddings have you photographed? 50+ for myself, in collaboration with other photographers, and a wedding collective I am part of.
• Do you often shoot weddings that have a similar size and style to the one we are planning? The average size of the weddings I shoot is 60 – 150, but I have also done small elopements and a handful of 200+.
• Can we see the full galleries of a few of your recent weddings? Yes, please! I would love for you to see how a love story can vary for each couple.
• Have you ever shot a wedding at our ceremony and reception venues? If I have not shot at the location prior, I arrive before shooting time to scout or visit the site prior to the day to pick locations for key moments. I am always happy to consult with you or the vendor team when making location decisions with a site visit or remote walk-through.

Pricing and Packages

• Can I customize a package to fit my needs? Yes, absolutely. I have built the packages around what most couples want – but you don’t need to be most couples, be you.
• Do you include engagement photos in your packages? What about pre-wedding events like rehearsal dinners? Yes, if you would like to add those you can see my al la carte menu options.
• Do you offer a photo booth? No, but I have some recommendations for them. Some venues and DJs include them now too. 
• Do you offer retouching, color adjustment, or other corrective services? Are those included or an additional charge? My galleries are delivered good to go. I include up to 10 images retouched (skin corrections, etc. upon request.) You can upgrade to more after reviewing your gallery, but I almost never get a client needing more if we get the lighting and angles right in camera. So basically, it’s available, but you won’t need it, you are beautiful.
• Do you charge a travel fee? Yes, it will vary depending on location. Please inquire because there are a lot of places in this big wide world I’m dying to get to!

Prints and Albums

• Can we order prints or albums directly from you? Yes, my online gallery is set up to be very user-friendly to do it yourself. I’m also available for a consultation and design as needed.
• How long after the wedding will we receive the images? A Handful of sneak peeks within 48 hours for that social sharing! The full gallery will be delivered digitally within 4-6 weeks. If you need them sooner a rush fee can be applied to your package.
• Will we have the rights to the images? Yes.
• Will we receive the high-resolution digital images? Yes, that is included in all the packages.
• Will the images be accessible online? For how long? Yes, for 1 year.

Logistics

• When will we receive the contract? When we have finalized your package, you will receive a proposal to digitally sign your contract and pay your deposit.
• How much of a deposit do you require? When is it due? 50% due to hold your date, but payment plans are available upon request.
• Do you accept payments in installations? Yes.
• Do you have liability insurance? Yes.
• Do you carry backup equipment? Yes.
• How will you and your assistants be dressed? We are normally dressy casual, but happy to dress in a certain way if requested. 
• Can we request a list of specific shots we would like? Sure! If for some reason I don’t feel we can re-create it then, I will share why and work to get close to what you are envisioning.
• Will you be posting about our wedding on your website and social media? I would love to – I know I will be obsessed! But of course, if privacy is a top priority for you we can discuss that as well.
